The single-mom meal planning system

01

Solve dinner first

Breakfast and lunch are systems, oatmeal, eggs, sandwiches, leftovers. Dinner is where the planning fatigue lives. Plan dinner, leave the rest on autopilot.

02

Two batch-cook nights

Use a freezer-friendly meal (lentil soup, chickpea curry, baked ziti, turkey chili) twice a week and double the recipe. Lunch tomorrow solves itself.

03

Pantry-first thinking

The shopping list separates 'buy this week' from 'pantry check' so you don't double-buy olive oil for the fourth time. Most weeks the buy list is shorter than you think.

Frequently asked questions

How does the meal planner pick recipes?

It draws from a curated bank of 14 dinners covering Mediterranean, Mexican, Asian, Italian, Indian, and American comfort cuisines. The planner filters out anything that violates your dietary restriction or exceeds your max prep time, then picks 7 unique meals. Re-shuffle to swap the lineup.

Why exactly 7 dinners, what about breakfast and lunch?

Breakfast and lunch in a single-mom household tend to be repeat-system meals (oatmeal, eggs, sandwiches, leftovers). Dinner is where the real planning fatigue lives. Solving dinner solves 80% of the meal-planning load with 20% of the effort.

Is the cost estimate accurate?

It's a baseline based on average U.S. grocery prices for 2026. Your real cost will vary by region and store, Aldi/Walmart will run lower, Whole Foods/Erewhon will run higher. The relative cost between meals is reliable; treat the absolute total as ±20%.

Can I see ingredients before generating the plan?

Generate first, then expand each meal in your head, the grocery list shows everything you'll need. We don't show full recipes here because dinner-by-dinner recipes balloon the page; the goal is to plan and shop quickly. Most meal names are searchable on any recipe site if you need step-by-step.

Is my data saved anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Refresh the page and the plan resets. We don't track who used the tool or what they entered.
